The Director of Events leads banquet and event managers, trainees, interns, and administrative staff. They manage recruitment and hiring of banquet and event services staff, training, managing and coaching managers in their servicing process in order to meet company goals and maximize hotel revenues. Must be able to train and monitor the group and transient contractual agreement process, sending referrals, setting traces, and the management of retention, reactivation, and acquisition accounts. The Director of Events reports directly to the General Manager. The budgeted salary starts at $91,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • 6 years or more of progressive hotel Event Sales and Planning experience (typically with Hyatt)
  • With opening hotels, previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
  • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
  • At least 3 years experience in a senior role in Event Sales/Planning environment
  • Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset
  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Maintain communications with Corporate Staff
